Seed of this variety came originally from Meredith Kennard, who at the time was director of the Hancock Shaker Village Historic Garden in Hancock, Massachusetts. The variety was introduced in England in 1826 from the Channel Island of Guernsey. A very sweet parsnip, fine-fleshed, producing evenly tapered roots up to 14 inches in length, with few side roots and outstanding keeping qualities.
